Umpiring

Netball umpiring is not only an essential part of the game, but is also an exciting way to develop personal skills such as resilience, communication and leadership. It is the umpires responsibility to uphold the rules and ensure the game runs smoothly and safely. Therefore, as an umpire, you have the opportunity to challenge yourself in new, innovative ways that would otherwise be unattainable.

At Success Strikers, we are always excited to help develop existing umpires and introduce new umpires with the help of our Umpire Coordinator, executive committee, and our mentors. This is done through both gameday feedback and support and coaching clinics run by the Umpire Coordinator, allowing umpires of every level an opportunity to freely ask questions and develop themselves.

It is extremely easy to become an umpire with us! You simply must be at least turning 13 within the year and express interest to the Umpire Coordinator and/or a member of the committee (preferably prior to the start of the season), who will be able to direct you through the upcoming steps. These steps include coming down to a mentoring session, completing the online Theory Exam by Netball Australia and participating in feedback sessions with mentors.

Payments for umpiring for Success Strikers include the following:

NetSetGo games = $20

Junior games (SNA and FNA) = $25

Senior games (SNA and FNA) = $30

*note: umpires with a C-badge or higher are paid an extra $5 per game.

For any enquires to become an umpire with Success Strikers, please contact Maddy Reid (Umpire Coordinator), Jenny Balsa (Club President), or our Facebook page, Success Strikers Netball Club. We will be taking on new umpires at the start of each season, however if you are super keen feel free to contact us throughout the season!

Coaching

Coaching a netball team can be a very rewarding and fun volunteer position & community to be involved in. Our coaches are required to attend trainings on Wednesday night to coach their team & their games on either Friday evenings (if you are coaching NSG) or Saturdays throughout the winter season. Coaches prepare training plans, team activities, game plans and captain rosters for our younger grades as well as provide feedback and encouragement to their team.

To become a coach of one of our younger teams all you need is the right mindset, the willingness to engage and help your team strive for success and commitment to your team throughout the winter season. Success Strikers Netball Club often hold coaching clinics & special courses to assist those interested in furthering their skills and knowledge to become an accredited coach. To coach one of our older teams (17 & Under and above) having at least the Netball Australia Foundation Coaching Accreditation is highly desirable.

There are 6 tiers of coaching accreditation for Netball Australia and they are:
Foundation

Development

Intermediate

Advanced

Elite and;

High Performance.

These courses are always very informative and a wonderful tool to have access too and Success Strikers Netball Club always highly recommend our coaches to participate & attend such courses when they become available to us. More information on these courses can be found on the Netball Australia website or by following this link -

If you are a coach for our club, wanting to express your interest of becoming a coach for our club or require any further information you can contact our club Coaching Coordinator, Jayde via email or through our Facebook page.
